9 Unique Scholarships For Creative Students

The process of figuring out how to pay for college can be a long – and sometimes complicated – one. There are many different options such as scholarships, grants, work-study, and more, but one of the sources of funding students consistently turn to is private scholarships. As a part of our mission to help students succeed, we’re constantly updating our scholarship database. Are you creative? Maybe you’re just tired of writing essays for your scholarship applications. Whatever the case, there are many types of scholarships out there for students who are artistic. Below is a short list of some unique scholarships that you involve getting creative and submitting your works of art.

9. Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship

Have you been planning for the zombie apocalypse? Perhaps you just love reading and writing zombie fiction. Either way, this is a scholarship that truly stands out. Applicants are tasked with fleshing out a plan to avoid zombies that have overrun their local school/college. Students can apply as young as 13 years of age. The award is $2,000.

8. Love Your Body Poster Contest

This contest rewards poster artists that effectively encourage women to love their bodies. This contest is open to anyone of any age anywhere. To enter, you must design and submit an original poster challenging limiting, stereotypical, or negative portrayals of women in the media. The award is $350.

7. Getting Real About Defensive Driving Scholarship

Are you passionate about driver safety? This scholarship rewards a student who designs an advertisement to educate the public about the dangers of distracted driving. This scholarship gives you a lot of leeway in your creativity as your submission can be in any medium of your choosing. The award is $1,000.

6. Create-A-Greeting Card Scholarship

This is a great opportunity for students who are passionate about design. The Create-A-Greeting Card Scholarship awards a creative high school or college student in the US or Canada. Submit a greeting card design based on the criteria and you can have a shot at a $10,000 award!

5. DefensiveDriving.com Scholarship

This is another scholarship geared towards driving safety. This is a great opportunity if you have a talent in making films? The purpose of this scholarship is to educate students about defensive driving. To apply, you must submit a video about defensive driving on the provided topic. To enter, you must be a high school senior or a college student. The award is $1,500.

4. Georgia Thespians Achievement Scholarships

Have a passion for acting and theater? This scholarship awards outstanding thespians based on an audition. To apply, you must be a high school senior and must have a GPA of 3.0. You must also have plans to major in theater, film, speech, radio and television, broadcasting, music, or dance. The award is $2,000.

3. Kerope Zildjian Concert Percussion Scholarship

If you play a percussion instrument, you may want to take a look at this scholarship. The Kerope Zildjian Concert Percussion Scholarship recognizes an outstanding student percussionist who is currently enrolled in an undergraduate music program. Your application must include a high-quality CD recording that’s 15 minutes or less. There are some specifics about what should be included in your recording, so you will want to check that out in the link above to learn more. The award is $5,000.

2. Stuck At Prom Contest

You may have seen pictures of kids in duct tape prom outfits before. Did you know the reason behind those outfits is a scholarship? The Stuck At Prom Contest is run by Duck Tape brand duct tape. The rules are pretty simple: create a prom outfit out of duct tape and send them a picture. The grand prize is $10,000!

1. Doodle 4 Google Contest

This scholarship is the largest on this list. The Doodle 4 Google contest asks students to submit a piece of artwork for the chance to be featured on the Google homepage and win scholarship money for yourself and technology money for your school. The contest is open to students in grades K-12, and the top award is $30,000. Even if you don’t the grand prize, there are prizes of $5,000 for the national finalists as well.
