Horatio Alger Georgia Scholarship Program

Description:

The Horatio Alger Georgia Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students in the State of Georgia who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education. Funded through the generosity of the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation. The applicant must have a strong commitment to pursue a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution. The student may begin his/her studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution. The applicant must also plan to enter college no later than the fall following high school graduation. Each applicant must demonstrate involvement in co-curricular and community activities. Scholarship recipients will be announced in January.

Eligibility:

  • Must attend high school in Georgia.
  • Must be a resident of Georgia.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be enrolled full time as a high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation, and planning to enter college no later than the fall semester following graduation.
  • Must demonstrate a critical financial need. $55,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred; a written explanation must be provided if income is higher.
  • Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  • This award is for U.S. students.
