This scholarship exists to enhance HS students’ experience with and understanding of the U.S. Constitution. The contest will help develop students leadership skills and civic appreciation, as well as the ability to deliver thoughtful, insightful orations regarding U.S. citizenship and its inherent responsibilities. The student must give an 8- to 10-minute speech in English related to the Constitution, focusing on the duties and obligations citizens have to their government. There is also a required 3- to 5-minute speech to be given on one of several assigned topics which are posted on the website.
The speech is first delivered in the student’s home state. Winners eventually compete at the national level.
Eligibility
Applicants must be high school students under age 20 who are U.S. citizens or legal residents and residents of the state.
